Tourists in Barcelona, Spain, may soon have to pay a special tourist tax for every day they spend in the city. Authoroties in Barcelona wants visitors to pay the sum of €1 a day. Barcelona could thus become the first Spanish city to introduce such a tourism tax, the newspaper La Vanguardia writes. The income would be spend on promotion of the tourism industry and other related things. Barcelona receives about 6,5 million tourists each year. Is this a sign of the times?
